I’m sure we’ve all seen the mouthwatering images of Fluffy Japanese Pancakes and dreamed about tasting them. Well, today is your lucky day! Keep reading to discover how to make these airy delights with at home!
1/4 cup milk
about 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon cooking oil ( I used olive oil)
1/3 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar ( you can add additional sugar)
1 teaspoon white vinegar
First, separate the eggs, you will need 3 eggs whites and 2 yolks. (Come back next week Monday to find out how I utilized the extra yolk!) Next, set aside your egg whites and add your egg yolks, milk, vanilla extract, cooking oil, and flour into a bowl and whisk. After this, begin whipping your egg whites, (I used an electric hand mixer, you will need something of this nature to ensure the egg whites are fluffy). About halfway through whipping your egg whites, add your sugar and vinegar in and mix again. Whip the egg whites until they resemble a cloud-like consistency. Then, combine your egg whites and egg yolk mixture gradually. (Do not use your electric mixer for this, over whipping the egg whites will deflate them, I used a spoon.) Use a piping bag or ziplock to pipe your mixture into a greased pan, cover, and cook for about three minutes on each side. (Be mindful of the size of your pancakes, as it will impact the time it should be cooked.) Finally, plate and serve! Be sure to check out my tutorial on Instagram or Tik Tok!
Everyone loved them! They were so fluffy and delicious. Whipping the egg whites was a little tedious, but totally worth it. Overall the process was easy and the result was great and aesthetically pleasing. Try this the next time you’re in the kitchen!
