Sadly, summer vacation is coming to an end and school is rolling back around. However, just because summer vacation is over, that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy the summer season for its last few weeks! Grab your mask, some sanitizer, some snacks, and a few friends, and try to make the best of these situations by taking a page from our book.
Plan a Simple Day at the Park
A cute, and safe, little thing to do is take a trip to the park. Make sure there’s enough space for you to keep enough distance from other park-goers, try to avoid crowded areas. For us, we choose a park that’s beautiful, spacious, and close to home: Flushing Meadows Park. There’s tons of space to enjoy a picnic, go biking, or simply go for a walk. Not to mention, the gorgeous centerpiece of the park: the famous globe!
Once you’ve chosen a spot to settle down, it’s time to get to business. We decided to keep things calm, cool, and collected by having a mini art session. What’s cool about indulging in art is that there are so many different mediums. Some people draw inspiration from their surroundings and might decide to draw or even paint. We opted for the simpler route: coloring books! Ganging up a few friends and coloring together is easy, fun, and can even be surprising as the end result may shock everyone.
This is such a simple, fun activity to do with your friends. Coloring or producing any type of artwork is also quite therapeutic. It helps relieve stress- and I think we all need to do that during these uncertain times. Sometimes, all you need to do is surround yourself with nature, good vibes, and just avoid the internet for a few hours. Let your creative side take control and just focus on the task at hand while munching on your favorite snacks with your favorite people.
